This Christmas the Esterhazy Singers will be performing a selection of Christmas favourites in their annual Christmas Concert. At this concert the choir bids a fond farewell to their musical director of the last 10 years Esther Jones and a warm welcome to their new musical director Andrea Brown. The concert will also feature a seasonal organ solo by regular choir collaborator James Gough and a selection of communal carols
Named after Haydn’s patron, Prince Esterhazy, and with Haydn as its core composer, the Esterhazy Singers of London has established a reputation over its 40-year history for its performances of music in a wide range of styles from Renaissance polyphony to ambitious contemporary choral music. The Esterhazy Singers has been taken to new heights by choral specialist Esther Jones, also Deputy Director of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain and part-time tutor at the Royal Academy of Music. The choir is looking forward to working with new musical director Andrea Brown. Former director of music at Morley College, Andrea recently completed a sabbatical at the Royal Academy of Music where she attained an MA in Choral Conducting. Andrea has devised and conducted a number of award-winning festivals and concert seasons.
James Gough graduated with a Master of Arts in Organ Performance from the Royal Academy of Music in 2009 and was the recipient of several Academy prizes including the Eric Thiman Organ Prize for solo organ.
