Following on from last years’ success, the Windmill Memorial Gardens will once again be transformed by candle light to create a magical winter garden. Children and adults will be invited to help light the hundreds of candles to create the spectacle and take part in a short lantern parade, before a finale of singing and fireworks to close the event.
We will be holding lantern decorating workshops in the Veteran's Club, which are to be used as part of the parade. Each child will be given a lantern to decorate, which will then be attached to a cane so that it is easy to carry.
There are 3 workshop sessions for 20 minutes each. The first will be at 2 pm, then 2:30 pm and the last at 3:00pm.
Please be advised:
1) One ticket per child. Please have your ticket with you as this will entitle you to entry and to receive a lantern.
2) If you attend a workshop, you will be expected to take part in the parade. Once your workshop has finished, the finished lanterns will be set aside and you will be given a ticket to collect it before the parade starts. If you are unable to take part in the parade, your lantern will be carried by someone else.
3) Workshops will only last 20 minutes. Once the session has finished you will need to leave the hall so that another session can start. Don't worry, we have plenty of entertainment in the Windmill Gardens before the parade starts.
4) Due to limited space, we are asking that all push chairs are kept outside whilst you are in the hall.
