Christmas Village Wall Hanging
Event Information
About this Event
This course involves making a patchwork mini quilt with a finished size of around 21” x 29”.
This quilt will allow you to be really creative with your design. Every quilt will be different. The amount you get done will very much depend on what you choose to do with your individual quilt. If you choose to do a lot of hand sewing, or do a lot of quilting to add texture, you will get less done that someone who does not do those things.
Given the sewing involved, it is unlikey that you will finish backing and binding on the day, but it is anticipated that most people will complete the quilt top.
All materials are provided for your quilt. However, you may want to bring your own scraps for your "houses" if you have a particular colour scheme in mind. You might also want to bring embellishments such as lace, sequins and buttons.
Tea, coffee, soft drinks and homemade cake are included. This is an all-day course, so you will need to either bring a packed lunch, or buy something from a local shop on the day.
Skill level: Intermediate
As for all of our sewing workshops, you must be able to use a sewing machine with a reasonable level of skill. On that basis, you should have either completed an “introduction to sewing machines” session, or have used a sewing machine yourself to undertake simple tasks like joining two pieces of fabric. If you have not done this, this course will not be suitable.
Although basic techniques will be used and full tuition will be given, there is quite a lot to get through in this class. As it is unlikely that you will finish backing the quilt on the day, you will also need to have the skills to do this independently at home. Alternatively, if you attend one of our Sew Social sessions, you can be given additional advice and support then.
