Overview:
Chronic enteropathy (CE) is a common yet challenging condition in companion animals, presenting as persistent gastrointestinal signs such as diarrhea, vomiting, and weight loss. This CPD session will equip first-opinion veterinarians with the tools to confidently recognize, diagnose, and manage CE, including differentiation of food-responsive, antibiotic-responsive, and steroid-responsive enteropathies.


Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize clinical signs suggestive of chronic enteropathy and differentiate from other gastrointestinal disorders.
  • Implement an effective diagnostic workup, including laboratory testing, imaging, and when to consider referral for endoscopy and biopsy.
  • Develop practical, evidence-based management strategies, including dietary modification.
  • Understand prognostic indicators and communicate effectively with pet owners regarding expectations and outcomes.


About the Speaker

Florence Juvet DVM DipECVIM-CA MRCVS RCVS Specialist in Small Animal Medicine and EBVS® European Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine

Florence qualified from the University of Lyon, France in 2002. This was followed by an internship in Lyon and several years in small animal practice in the UK and abroad.


Florence completed a 3-year residency at University College, Dublin in 2009. She achieved the European Diploma in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2010 and is a European Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine.


Florence has a wide interest in all aspects of small animal medicine, particularly endoscopy, gastrointestinal disease, urinary tract disorders, endocrinology and infectious diseases.


During the CPD event, SCVS will be taking pictures and video footage. If you wish not to be included, please notify a member of staff.
