About this event

CHS x MAYS.MAP: Beyond the Trail - Whernside and Ribblehead

Join May (@mays.map). If you love mountains, a cosy pub and very cool railway viaducts - this hike is your perfect adventure! We’re heading up Whernside, the highest peak in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and one of the iconic Yorkshire Three Peaks. On this hike we’ll hike through the vast Yorkshire moors, where we’ll walk alongside the mighty Ribblehead Viaduct, towering 104 feet above us as we head for the steep ascent. Once we reach the summit, the ridge provides impressive views in all directions even spotting Ingleborough on a clear day. We’ll then descend the steep, rocky terrain of this peak before heading through one of the impressive 24 arches of the viaduct. Our hike will end at the famous Station Inn pub, for a game of uno and a well deserved rest! This is an intermediate hike and will require a good level of fitness. It involves walking through boggy areas and a steep rocky descents where there is uneven footing. This year, founder of Another Hiking Collective, @Mays.Map, is inviting you to go beyond the hike. It's not just about reaching the summit and heading home – it's about forging unforgettable memories along the way. Each adventure in this series, beyond the trail, is created to make you feel connected to the wild, the people you’re with, and the world around you. From the first step to the last glance, it's about experiencing nature in a way that stays with you long after the trail ends. Together, let’s explore, laugh, and discover somewhere new. This isn't just a hike.
