Event description

Description

Join us for a workshop on Crowdfunding for Social Causes!

Donation-based crowdfunding is a new way of raising funds and allows you to source money for a project by asking a large number of contributors to donate a small amount, and asking a small number of contributors to donate a large amount. In return, backers may receive token rewards that increase in prestige as the size of the donation increases.

The Workshop

Chuffed.org is one of the leading (free !) global crowdfunding platforms for social causes. During this Workshop we will give you an introduction to Crowdfunding and will share the secrets of what it takes to run a successful campaign on Chuffed.org.

During the workshop you will learn how to:

  • Find your crowd (figure out who is going to support your project and why)
  • Tell a specific, inspiring story that your supporters care about
  • Set an achievable target and blow it out of the park
  • Create a marketing and promotion plan for your campaign

About the Speaker

Chuffed.org Community Leader Bill Horne

Bill Horne is a visual artist and activist who lives with his partner, Claire Kujundzic (also a visual artist & activist) in a former church in Wells, BC in Lhatako Dene Territory. He spent many years on the provincial and national boards of CARFAC, a national, artist-run advocacy organization (Canadian Artists Representation - le front des artistes canadiens - carfac.ca). Since 2015 he has been supporting resistance to BC Hydro's proposed Site C dam on the Peace River in northeast British Columbia in Treaty 8 Territory by fundraising and creating political art. Bill and Claire were very involved in the successful campaign to save their local elementary school from closure in 2002. They have exhibited their work internationally and will eventually move to Victoria, BC to be closer to family. More information at https://bill-horne.net/

During this workshop, Bill will be sharing both his own experiences crowdfunding as well as learnings from some of the over 5000 social cause projects on Chuffed.org.

Fees

  • $30 Discount ticket for Chuffed.org Campaigners and Registered Charities
  • $60 Standard ticket price
