A conference for clergy, staff and congregations on how to grow your church. This event was recently moved to our new date of 16 November.

About this event

This one-day conference comprises a morning session including two hours with international evangelist, J John, on how to share your faith with family and friends, and an afternoon session on how to grow your ministry to children, families and young people. You are welcome to just come for the morning or to stay for the full day (lunch provided). Here is the programme:

Morning session, opened by Bishop Andrew, 9.30am-1pm

  • J John on friendship evangelism – J John, will speak on Natural Evangelism, his highly effective approach for enabling congregations to share faith relationally ‘through praying, caring and sharing’.
  • Creating missional disciples – the Church of England’s National Lead on Evangelism, Revd Dr Stephen Hance, will speak on how to make disciples who make disciples.
  • Leading in evangelism - John Valentine, Leadership Enabler for CPAS, and Sarah Slater, Training Lead, on the CPAS / Guildford Diocese ‘Leading in Evangelism’ learning hub.

Afternoon session 1.45pm-3.30pm

  • Attracting children and families with Aike Kennett-Brown, Messy Church national lead, Becky Denharder of the Kitchen Table Project and Emma Coy, Mission Enabler for Children and Families. Emma will share new research into parishes which are seeing increasing numbers of children and families.
  • Reaching the young with Jimmy Dale of the Church of England Vision and Strategy Team (formerly national youth adviser) and Alastair Etheridge, Mission Enabler for Youth. They will be sharing new research into the most effective youth ministry models nationwide.
  • Sharing best practice – we will close with a round-up of evangelistic initiatives in our parishes and a time of prayer. Please let us know how we can celebrate what God is doing in your parish.
