CIBSE and CESW - Decarbonisation of large buildings

Join us at Design West for an exciting event focused on the decarbonisation of large buildings.

With Net Zero targets fast approaching, this event will explore innovative ideas and practical solutions for one of the toughest challenges in sustainability: the decarbonization of existing commercial buildings. Through a series of expert presentations, we will examine project feasibility, delve into investigative engineering, and assess viable options for heating, cooling, and overall infrastructure improvements. Our goal is to uncover strategies that can make meaningful progress towards a low-carbon future for the built environment.

Speakers:

1. Andy Green, Head of Technical Solutions, Baxi

Andy will be focusing on full / partial decarbonisation with Air Source Heat Pumps. He will cover considerations around project feasibility, how to use investigative engineering to source the right solution for each project. His presentation uses some example schematics set with challenges to help really understand considerations when decarbonising heating and hot water in existing commercial buildings.

2. Ozan FitzGibbon, Senior Mechanical Engineer, Buro Happold

Ozan will discuss the process of formulating a decarbonisation pathway for large existing buildings. Exploring how site constraints, client needs, and whole life carbon can fundamentally change our priorities and approach to decarbonisation. There is no one size fits all - identifying and leveraging unique opportunities is key to maximising our impact.

3. Matt Berry, Senior Industrial Energy Engineer, Ramboll

Matt will explore various opportunities and challenges faced by engineers to establish solutions to decarbonise light industry buildings, supported by case studies highlighting innovative approaches like heat recovery and combining heating and cooling. Learn important lessons from these initiatives and explore future outlooks and conclusions for engineers. This session is perfect for those keen on impacting sustainability through practical and innovative solutions.

Learn from industry experts, network with like-minded professionals, and gain valuable insights into sustainable building practices. This in-person event is a must-attend for anyone passionate about creating a greener future. Don't miss out!
