About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

This free online event will feature presentations from previous award winners, showcasing how simulation was used to solve real-world design challenges and improve building performance. Hear first-hand how these professionals applied innovative modelling techniques to deliver impact—and get inspired to submit your own work.

The event also marks the opening of nominations for this year’s two award categories:

  • CIBSE Building Simulation Award – Celebrating the use of simulation to improve real-world building performance. Submissions should demonstrate how modelling and analysis played a pivotal role in the project.

  • CIBSE Young Modeller Award – Honouring emerging talent in the industry, this award recognises young engineers, consultants, and apprentices who have shown exceptional skill and impact in building simulation.

Whether you’re a seasoned modeller, a young professional, an academic, or simply passionate about sustainable building design - this is a fantastic opportunity to learn, connect, and prepare your entry.

What to Expect:

  • Welcome from the CIBSE Building Simulation Group
  • Short presentations by past award winners
  • Insights into what makes a strong submission
  • Key dates and how to enter
  • Q&A session

Important Dates

  • Nominations Open: 14 August 2025
  • Submission Deadline: 10 October 2025
  • Winners Announced: 19 November 2025 at elementalLondon, London Excel

About the Speakers:

  1. Dr Xiaoxiong Xie is a Lecturer in Building Engineering at the University of Plymouth. His research focuses on the interaction between indoor and outdoor environments, using multi-scale modelling to explore how cities and buildings adapt to climate change. He addresses health impacts and supports climate adaptation through strategies for healthy, energy-efficient building design in urban areas.
  2. Yorgos Koronaios is an Associate Director at Savills Earth – Sustainable Design, positively contributing towards a Net Zero Carbon built environment. With a background in architecture and expertise in building physics and energy performance, he provides tailored advice to optimise building performance and align assets and portfolios with Net Zero targets. His strategic advice enables design teams and clients to develop decarbonisation roadmaps across diverse asset types, from offices to retail parks and industrial portfolios..
