By Brian Whorlow, author of CIBSE / SoPHE Technical Bulletin TB16-01
With regards to domestic water pipe sizing, reliability questions have been AND are being asked regarding the traditional demand assessment system based upon Loading Units (LU’s), which was introduced to the UK in 1965. Since that time, water efficiency considerations such as mixer taps & washing habits have all contributed to the amount of water actually being used. This has resulted in the LU system significantly over-estimating the peak simultaneous design flow.
The TB16-01 has been produced to provide some interim best practice guidance for assessing domestic water demand, until such time as further research is completed by the Loading Unit Normalisation Assessment (LUNA) Group [a joint CIPHE / CIBSE research project which is currently ongoing] & / or new design standards have been published.
The technical bulletin has been written by Brian Whorlow BA (Hons) IEng FCIPHE, who is the Honorary Chair of the LUNA Group.
Light refreshments will be provided.
All are welcome at this event; you do not have to be a CIBSE or SOPHE member to attend. Feel free to invite your colleagues who may not have received details.
We look forward to seeing you there.
