About this event

This event provides a space for those globally across the built environment, planning, crucial infrastructure and utilities and emergency response communities to have a technical discussion about the climate resilience implications of efforts to reduce emissions in cities.

This session will provide a technical focus on critical infrastructure with speakers providing insights into energy provision, city electrification and delivery challenges faced specifically in health and data centre buildings.

The event will contain the following presentations:

  • 'Powering urban resilience and climate action', with Ben Kuchta, Group Resilience Improvement Manager, National Grid. Focusing on topics including network resilience in response to climate adaption and the energy transition, Ben helps enable key business outcomes.
  • 'Challenges of electrification', with Stephen de Souza, Strategic Programme Manager Energy, Greater London Authority. Stephen leads the GLA's smart energy team, helping ensure that London's energy networks and system is making the necessary changes to meet the Mayor's 2030 net zero target. He’s experienced in the strategy, policy and regulatory aspects of energy markets, especially renewables
  • 'Hospital buildings' , with Kate McCormick, Energy Manager, Great Ormond Street Hospital. Kate McCormick is the Energy Manager at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. Kate has been researching the links between smart technology with asset and energy management to enable a balance of efficiency of buildings and efficiency of building users.
  • 'Data Centres', with James Outram, Associate, Atkins. James is a Mechanical Engineer with over 15 years’ experience & a strong portfolio of projects delivered within the mission critical sector.
