About this event

Fires in buildings are inevitable, and when the inevitable happens it is essential to get the occupants out safely and efficiently. In addition to fire suppression systems, the protection of escape routes is a mandatory requirement and of vital importance. Mechanical pressure control systems if designed, installed and commissioned properly provide this opportunity to get the occupants out alive and hopefully uninjured. Whilst this may sound simple, there is a lot to be aware of and getting it “wrong” can have dire consequences.

Key Highlights of Seminar:

  • FIP, FFCP and Mech Electrical interface and use.
  • The purpose of providing pressurisation to fire isolated exits.
  • The impact of different types of floor smoke control systems.
  • The importance of floor air relief to pressurised fire isolated exits.
  • The control of stair pressure, relief air and floor dampers.·
  • Test requirements, functional and performance.
  • Testing & Commissioning requirements.
  • Baseline document requirements.

SPEAKER: PAUL CHASTEAUNEUF

Paul Chasteauneuf, President of the Testing and Commissioning Association Inc., is a revered figure in the commissioning industry, known for setting technical standards and advancing professional excellence. Beginning his career in 1982 as a refrigeration mechanic with AE Smith, Paul’s curiosity for air conditioning systems led him to pursue further education, earning credentials from RMIT and NEBB certifications in TAB and BSC. His contributions include authoring a widely used guide on stairwell pressurisation systems and serving as Technical Chair for NEBB Australia for over a decade.

Paul’s commitment to industry development continued at AG Coombs, where he played a pivotal role in designing training facilities such as the Box Hill TAFE Stair Pressure POD and the Holmesglen HVAC Centre of Excellence. His dedication to certification, training, and examination proctoring earned him the NEBB Australia Bruce Giles Distinguished Service Award in 2017. Today, Paul channels his extensive expertise into mentoring the next generation of commissioning professionals, driven by a passion to share the knowledge that shaped his own journey.

This networking event provides 2 hours of CIBSE CPD and includes an opportunity to network over drinks and nibbles following the presentation.
