Event description

Description

The aim of the Construction Industry Cycling Commission (CICC) is to reduce the number of injuries and deaths of vulnerable road users caused by construction vehicles, as well as to help create a better and safer environment for cycling and walking. Construction HGVs have a poor record - in 2011 for instance, of the 16 cyclist deaths in London seven were caused by construction lorries. The Commission was formed following the death of planning consultant Francis Golding killed by a left turning vehicle in November 2013.

The project is funded by TfL and the Hendy Murray Trust, and aimed at architects and planners.
The seminar will cover awareness of the environmental benefits of cycling, design issues safe streets and general safety issues relating to vulnerable road users, responsibilities on site in ensuring that contractors follow safety recommendations, legislation and guidance on these issues.
