Join us and our legal expert, Tim Smith, for some discussion and learning on the legal aspects of legal structures.

About this event

This session will provide the opportunity to learn more about the Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) legal structure, including the differences between a CIO and a Community Interest Company (CIC), and how to convert from a CIC to a CIO.

It will look at issues such as:

• the differences between a CIO and CIC

• pros and cons of charity registration

• how to decide which legal structure is appropriate

• CICs: pros and cons

• how to set up a CIC

• CIOs: pros and cons

• CIOs: 'association' and 'foundation' models

• how to set up a CIO and demonstrate your charitable objectives effectively

• the process for converting to a CIO from another structure e.g. CIC
