Leicester is a busy cosmopolitan city that is famous for many things, such as its Roman history, culture, diversity, sports and National Space Centre. First provide a significant part of the public transport for the area including the use of an increasing number of electric buses. This is a chance to hear about the operation and have a tour of the busy depot with its multiple charging points.
Speaker – Andrew Gwilliam, First Bus
First has launched First Charge, a scheme that allows the general public including commercial truck and van operators to use the ultra-rapid chargers in the depot at a time when they would be otherwise idle. Companies can register and then send vehicles for charging between 9am and 4.30pm to a site knowing they will be in a secure, efficient and reliable location for a speedy recharge. First plan to have around 15 locations available by the end of 2025. Y will explain the scheme in more detail.
