A visit to Bradgate Park feels like you are stepping out of the modern world and into a landscape that began 560 million years ago with 500-year-old oak trees, fine herds of deer, ancient rocks and ruins. Bradgate Park was first enclosed as a deer park around 800 years ago and it now provides 830 acres of publicly accessible countryside close to Leicester. The River Lin, Leicestershire’s shortest river, winds through the southern side of the park with tumbling waterfalls and pools. From there, you can cross acres of untouched nature with several trails leading north across the park and up to the Old John Tower with breath-taking views of the surrounding countryside.

This is a chance to meet fellow logistics and transport professionals, have a healthy exchange of ideas, network and build relationships, all amongst the glorious Leicestershire countryside. The walk is a length of 5k, which we will be taking leisurely. This will take 1.5-2 hours, with time at the end to sit outside the main café. The park has amble eateries, where you can purchase refreshments during and after the walk. If you want to bring a packed lunch, hey that is alright to. (Please note all refreshments will be at the attendees expense).

Partners, family members, non-CILT members and dogs are welcome to come along (managed appropriately). The route is paved, please make sure you bring the appropriate footwear and outdoor clothing for a walk of this type.

Talking point

Walkers are asked to think of what 3 things they would say to encourage the current school generation into the industry and why.
