Fifty-nine years ago, General Steam Navigation (part of the P&O group) announced that their three little liners were to be sold. The ships and their predecessors had been sailing to the Kent coast and cross channel services before the First World War and were part of the London and south coast history. During their time before package holidays and high volume of car ownership they gave a day at sea with fine dining. David will tell the history of the ships and their predecessors including the part they played in 1940 evacuation of troops at Dunkirk where they brought back over 12% of the troops rescued.
