Cine-Excess Festival Screening: A Mother's Recall (Mauro Ojeda, Arg, 2025)

Mauro Iván Ojeda's new film channels the spirit of Dario Argento’s seventies supernatural shockers in a film that explores monstrous constructions of motherhood. In A Mother’s Recall a married couple adopts Genaro, and when the boy arrives at his new home he meets his siblings Nuria and Samuel. As the days go by, Genaro suspects that his new family is suffering from a paranormal siege that keeps them in a state of anguish and gloom. Nuria is a teenager who learns the strange and terrifying secrets of her family and manages to forge a special bond with Genaro. Both are united by an evil presence that brings with it a series of sinister events.
