Artist notes:

~ Malcolm Le Grice ~

Malcolm is a radical force in British experimental film. Le Grice's work has explored the complex relationships between the filmmaking, projecting and viewing processes which constitute cinema as a medium, and shows an intense interest in the processes enabled by optical printers and by the combination of different types and gauges of film stock.

~ Peter Gidal ~

Peter is a seminal figure amongst the Structural film movement. An admirer of American structuralist filmmakers such as Michael Snow and Hollis Frampton, Gidal's own works are also interrogations into the formalist aspect of film, with an emphasis on grain, duration, tempo and editing structures. This is accompanied by an almost wilful insistence on the filmmaker as the ultimate arbiter of the construction of any work. Along with Malcolm LeGrice, Peter Gidal is the foremost exponent of British structural cinema.
