Join us at the CIPD London Student Conference for a thought-provoking and inspirational day packed with practical learning and networking. Whether you are studying a CIPD qualification at Foundation, Intermediate or Advanced level, the conference programme has been designed with a choice of sessions to give you excellent opportunities for exploring relevant case studies and career advice.

A warm welcome from Yetunde Hofmann, the conference chair, CIPD Board Member and Leadership Development Consultant. Yetunde will share with you tips on how to make the most of the conference and maximise your learning experience while introducing you to the topic and the flow for the day.




The Future of Work and the People Profession


Speaker: Peter Cheese, CEO, CIPD


What’s does the future of work look like? Will humans become obsolete after the impact of artificial intelligence, driverless cars and robot-surgeons? What does this all mean for the People Profession?  In this session, we’ll explore how organisations are likely to evolve in the future, shed light on some innovative practices in organisations, we’ll debate the role of the People Profession for these futures and map out the principles and the building blocks of good practice.




Driving Organisational Transformation (an OD perspective)


Speaker: Paul Taylor-Pitt, Assistant Director OD, NHS Employers


In the current economic and political context, change and agility is constant within organisations, and People Professionals are in the best position to drive transformation and ensure positive outcomes for both organisations and employees. This session will focus on organisational development, from diagnostics to implementation to show you how expert OD professionals deal with the challenges and opportunities.

This session will give you an overview of the process, from data collection to predictions, and good tips for you to build your data skills and capabilities.




Power, Influence and Presence


Speaker: Siobhan Sheridan, Civilian HR Director, Ministry of Defence


Developing your career requires time and effort – while some skills and knowledge come with experience, others need to be built. This session will give you an overview on what skills and capabilities are required for HR and L&D roles, some good tips on how to build them and how to enable you to develop some strategies and shares resources that may be useful in work, life and progression




Networking Lunch (50 min)




Personal Brand, Social Media and Networking

Building a strong personal brand and a personal learning network is the best way to find new job opportunities, continuously learn and develop as well as progress your career. How do we practically use all the tools available – from social media, to networking at events – to build our profile in HR and L&D?




Reshaping Performance Management


Speakers:  Jonny Gifford,  Senior Advisor - Organisational Behaviour, CIPD

Is performance management about the organisation or its people?  While many organisations are reshaping their views on performance management, many questions are still arising around the effectiveness of annual appraisals and moving towards continuous feedback conversations.




Building Commercial Capability in the People Profession

How can we maximise our impact and the value people professionals are bringing in organisations? This session will explore how acquiring a commercial capability, from understanding finances to the business model your organisation operated by, will support you in highlighting and maximising the ROI of People related initiatives and your personal impact.

If you are unable to attend an event please give at least 1-week notice (no later than Friday 16 February 2018) and we will be happy to refund 100% of your booking fee or book you on to a subsequent event to the same value. Cancellations received after this time will be non-transferable and non-refundable.

Professional photography and video production may be taking place at the event, and these images may be used in future promotional materials for CIPD. Please note that by attending the event, you are giving your consent for your image to be used on any CIPD promotional materials.
