July Network meeting – Retention & Recruitment discussion

The Senior People Professionals Network has been designed so that senior people professionals, based in the North of England, can come together for peer support, and to have discussions on topical issues.

In our July meeting, we are going to open the floor up to our members to allow you to discuss how you are tackling recruitment and retention challenges within your organisations.

During the meeting you will be invited into breakout groups to discuss the following questions:

  • What are you currently working on to improve retention in your organisation?
  • What are you currently working on to improve recruitment in your organisation?

We will also be hearing case studies from Network members:

  • Nicholas Wardle, Head of Employee Experience, Brand Experiences

Nicholas is an award-winning employee experience practitioner with over 15 years' experience in the employee experience/comms/engagement space, both in the UK and in the Middle East. He has worked across many sectors, including: the arts, television, local government, retail, housing and care. Nicholas is a Fellow of the Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC). His mantra is to 'keep the complex, simple' and he believes that the employee experience should have parity with the customer experience. He is the co-author of the book: Monetising the Employee Experience.

  • Sarah Davie, Group HR Director, Cultura Technologies

Sarah is the Group HR Director for Cultura Technologies and supports a number of businesses in the UK, Ireland and Canada. Sarah has worked in HR for 17 years across a range of industries and organisation sizes, and has been with Cultura now for almost 3 years.'' Cultura is the leading supplier of Software to the Ag industry. Working in the Tech industry we have been experiencing the war on talent (to recruit and to retain) for several years now, and been trying to think differently about what we can do to ensure we have the talent we need''.

CIPD North - Senior People Professionals Network:

During the pandemic, people professionals have stepped up like never before, taking on new and unprecedented challenges from dealing with evolving legislation to the constantly shifting challenges of new ways – and whereabouts - of working. This burden is taking its toll, and we know that burnout is a real risk for many. The new Senior People Professionals Network has been designed to help support your wellbeing and provide a platform to share best practice with like-minded peers.

You’ll also get the opportunity to find out more about our valuable membership tools and resources and how they can help support you in your role and advance your skills and knowledge.

Who is the CIPD North Senior Professionals Network for? 

This network is for north of England-based people professionals in senior roles, with responsibilities for strategy and management. These roles could include Head of L&D, Senior HR Business Partner,  OD&D Manager,  Assistant People Director.  

The network is open to both CIPD and non CIPD Members. To be considered as a member of the network, you will be asked several questions prior to being able to register for your ticket.

Upcoming events/dates:  

The CIPD North Senior Professionals Network will meet every two months. The meetings will take place at midday on the third Wednesday of the month.
