About this event
Policy event for Birmingham branch to help inform CIPD’s response to the Government’s Call for Evidence to develop a mental health and wellbeing plan. We would like to invite you to Birmingham CIPD Branch’s virtual Policy event. It takes place on Tuesday 7th June – 4pm to 5.30pm.
The aim of the event is to seek members’ views on the Government’s Call for Evidence to develop a mental health and wellbeing plan. CIPD research shows the pandemic, and other factors, continue to have a major impact on people’s mental health at work, so we are keen to submit a response that highlights the need to improve employer support. We would really appreciate your input so that we can respond in a way that reflects your insights and experiences as HR professionals.
The scope of the Call for Evidence is wide-ranging and covers the role of society and the NHS but the CIPD’s response will focus on the role of organisations in supporting good mental health:
Questions we are considering
1. How can employers help to support and protect the mental health of their employees?
2. How can organisations (beyond the NHS) better identify and respond to signs of stress or mental ill health in employees?
3. Do organisations have a role to play in helping to prevent the onset or escalation of mental health conditions? If so, how?
4. How can organisations help to ensure that people can access appropriate mental health support at an early stage if they are struggling?
5. How can organisations improve the physical health of people living with mental health conditions, if so how?
6. How can organisations provide effective support for employees after they experience a mental health crisis?
7. What do you think are the most important issues that a new, 10-year national mental health plan needs to address, in terms of the workplace?
