CIPD Public Policy – Creating Good Work that Makes an Organisational Impact – Find out about the Acas 7 Levers
"Productivity" is one of those words that refers to so many different things and evokes many different feelings – individuals are often very excited to learn new ways of being personally productive and so you often see articles titled ‘5 tips to increase your productivity and get you out of the office on time’ or some such. Whereas, a report on productivity at the economic level can be seen as complex, intimidating, not relevant for me, too industrial, too big picture and even boring. It even can evoke images of exploitation and taking a ‘low road’ approach to organisational strategy of pushing down costs relentlessly. As a result it isn’t exactly a hot issue for many people in HR and L&D.
Yet, productivity in the UK and in UK organisations is an important issue and one that has an effect on the success of each organisation and on all our economic prosperity. Productivity in the UK is lower than in many other countries and productivity is lower overall in the north of the UK. This ‘productivity puzzle’ is a vital one to crack.
Here is a piece to get you thinking about this ‘productivity puzzle’ from Stephen Toft:
So, this session will be focusing on productivity, but in a practical, easy to get your head around way, by exploring a tool developed for use by organisations by Acas. This focuses on 7 levers of productivity. In our session we will be looking at how HR and L&D can make a difference to the productivity of our organisations through creating good work that makes an organisational impact. We are delighted to welcome Michele Piertney, who is a Senior Adviser at Acas, to introduce the session.
Why not join us in exploring this tool?
