Event description

Description

Our digital, connected context has wrested control of the narrative away from the organisation. Unable to hide behind messaging, brands are increasing defined by their behaviour. This isn’t a new idea; it echoes all-embracing marketing definitions which recognise a brand to be the very essence, or DNA of a company. But taken to its conclusion, it has radical implications.

Join CIPR Bristol for a candid talk by Natalie Horne about the challenges of applying behavioural science to business. She will introduce the topic, share examples and reflect on what this means for brands – and for ourselves – as individuals in the industry.

Natalie says: “Behavioural economics may sound like a ‘dark art’, a way to nudge unsuspecting consumers and citizens towards particular choices. But in my experience, the biggest gains can come from applying it to internal behaviours and biases. Behavioural science illuminates the gap between what organisations say and what we do – and provides valuable tools to bridge this gap.”

This event is worth 5 CPD points for CIPR members.

Speaker biography:

Natalie is the driving force behind Prime Decision, a boutique insight and strategy consultancy which specialises in applying behavioural science.

Over the past six years, Natalie has grown a client list which includes brands such as Toyota, Movember Foundation, Bristol Airport, Red Bull, Ovo Energy and Sainsbury’s. Collaborating with leading academics and psychologists, she leads behaviour change projects spanning marketing, customer experience, operations and HR.

Beginning her career as a marketing strategist in the tech sector, Natalie worked in the US and EMEA for the likes of Microsoft, IBM and Samsung. Focusing increasingly on innovation, she devised new marketing propositions in digital, automation and social media, before exploring the emerging field of behavioural economics.

A long-time meditator, Natalie is also fascinated by how experiential, esoteric practices intersect with behavioural science, psychology and data.
