About this event

Timber demand is expected to rise to around 170% of current global levels by 2050, while domestic softwood availability is set to decline dramatically over the next two decades. The panel board industry has adapted by integrating reclaimed fibre into its processes – but evidence of circular practice in other timber products remains scarce.

This webinar explores opportunities and barriers for integrating reclaimed timber into manufacturing processes. We will hear examples from across Europe and Wales, from modular systems and reclaimed joinery to windows designed for reuse.

Who should attend?

UK-based manufacturers of timber systems, windows, doors and other wood-based elements, as well as construction product manufacturers interested in wood-based innovation.

Why attend?

  • Learn from manufacturers already using reclaimed wood at scale.
  • Explore solutions for resilient, circular timber supply chains.
  • Connect with peers developing new products for a changing market.
  • Share your own experience with circular practices in manufacturing.

Speakers include:

Confirmed and invited experts from Norway, Slovenia, France, and Wales (full speaker list to be announced).

About the event cycle

At the cross-section of increasing supply chain volatility, global demand growth and the urgent need to cut carbon emissions, this event cycle focuses on barriers and opportunities for:

  • UK wood product manufacturers to integrate reclaimed timber and fibre into their designs and processes.
  • Clients, specifiers and contractors to embrace these products in procurement and construction.

Through three webinars and one roundtable, participants will gain insights from practice examples, shape problem and opportunity statements, identify policy needs, and define practical actions.

The cycle is a collaboration between Woodknowledge Wales, Built by Nature and ASBP. It is part-funded by Welsh Government through the Home-Grown Homes Project and aligned with the Principles for Responsible Timber Construction.
