2016 has seen the Dakar to London project expand and evolve in ways we could only dream of a year ago. Travelling from across the globe to finally come together in one city, members of the group have brought their singular percussive power to several successful events. With the support of Everyone’s Climbing Tree, July saw an evening of food, music and laughter take place in the newly renovated community centre as young drummers showcased months of sweat and calluses at the inaugural Dakar 2 London performance. August brought further firsts: a gig at Brixton’s famous Hootenanny venue that gathered new fans and old together for a sneak preview of a record that’s almost been three years in the making.
Dakar 2 London is only getting bigger and better and we’d like to take this opportunity to invite you to our most exciting show yet: the long awaited release of the album that we have spent more than last 24 months putting our hearts and souls into. It’s music that will cleanse you, made by percussionists and singers representing the best talent both Senegal and the UK have to offer. For this reason, we’re turning things up a notch and are thrilled to announce Dakar 2 London’s debut record will be officially launched at Green Rooms on Saturday 3rd December 2016. Green Rooms is an incredible Art Deco-inspired location in central Wood Green that boasts the title of London’s only ‘hotel for the arts’.
Grab tickets now at a special price of £10. There will be limited tickets on the door., with refreshments available for those made thirsty by what promises to be an impressive amount of dancing. We will also sell the album on the event! We’re so excited to welcome you to this celebration of the culmination of our work and share this incredible moment with everyone who has supported us along the way thus far. Click onto our event to mark yourself attending; please invite friends, family and all those you think would like to be a part of Dakar 2 London’s journey. We hope to see you on Saturday 3rd of December to help us close out this year in true cross-cultural style.
