Are you a resident of the Isles of Scilly aged 16 or over and want to gain your CSCS card to work in construction? Then please join us for the CITB Health and Safety Awareness Course – 1 Day Course

This course is hosted by the Truro and Penwith College's Construction Skills Hub project and is happening on Friday, 21st November, from 9am to 5pm at the Carn Gwaval Wellbeing Centre—the community hub located on St Mary's, Isles of Scilly.

This course is subject to a £25.00 deposit, which is refundable when you attend the course.

The CITB Health and Safety Awareness course is a one-day training course for new entrants and existing workers. This course is suitable for anyone wishing to undertake work on a construction site. It is not aimed at those with managerial responsibilities. It teaches you the main health and safety issues on construction sites and how these affect your role.

This course is a pre-requisite to obtaining your CSCS card. To obtain the CSCS Labourer Card (known as Green Card) you need to attend and pass both the CITB Health and Safety Awareness Course and touchscreen CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test.

Successful delegates will gain knowledge and skills in:

· Typical construction hazards and how these are controlled

· How everyone can help achieve better practical standards of safety on site

· Legal requirements and liabilities

· Working at height

· Manual handling

· Fire prevention

· Work equipment

· Occupational health

This is a highly interactive course delivered by means of case studies, classroom discussion, group work and individual/group presentations. Delegates will be continuously assessed and will have to successfully complete a multiple-choice test.

Upon successful completion Delegates will be awarded the CITB Health and Safety Awareness Certificate in a pdf format which is valid for five years.

NOTE: To complete this course Delegates must be able to read and understand English to a good standard.

*** This course is fully funded, subject to eligibility. To access this funding, participants must live or work in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, and be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK.
