About this event
On 21 April 2021, the Covenant of Mayors in Europe has launched its 2050 vision, reflected in a new political commitment document to affirm Mayors’ loyalty to work toward a fairer, climate-neutral Europe for all. The vision stresses how the engagement of the community is critical for the achievement of such an ambitious and needed objective. We need all hands on deck to find inclusive and effective solutions to speed up our climate action, and this must include youth not only because young generations are precious resource but also because the ones that will live the future that current decisions will shape.
To support signatories in this difficult task, the Covenant of Mayors Office teamed up with the European Climate Pact Secretariat to design a webinar where inspiring experiences from cities and organizations, new approaches, ideas and tools will be shared.
As part of the European Climate Pact, various tools were initiated to promote youth involvement, such as the Youth Climate Pact Challenge, Peer Parliaments or Climate Fresk. The aim of the webinar is to present those successfully implemented Climate Pact Tools and how they can be adapted to local level. To get further insights, young people who joined the initiatives will share their experience. Moreover, two cities will highlight their view on the importance of youth engagement in climate action.
The European Climate Pact is a movement of people united around a common cause, each taking steps to build a more sustainable Europe for us all. Launched by the European Commission, the Climate Pact is part of the European Green Deal and is helping the EU to meet its goal to be the first climate-neutral continent in the world by 2050. This goal can only be reached, if everyone – from individuals to organisations, local and national governments to youth – takes action.
Within the Climate Pact, around 350 youth ambassadors (< 30 years) are making change happen by emphasizing climate action, connecting with others, rising awareness as well as developing and implementing solutions and connecting with others.
Looking forward to welcoming you to the Webinar!
