A day-long participatory workshop exploring 64 Million Artists' approach to citizen-led culture and different models of co-creation.

About this event

64 Million Artists champion the power of citizen-led creativity. We work with all kinds of partners across the UK to develop projects using creativity and co-creation as well as an ethos which places community at their heart.

In this one day workshop, participants will be learn about 64 Million Artists' approach as well as take part in creative exercises, discussions and peer support.

Suitable for creative and community practitioners, workshop facilitators and organisational leaders who would like to learn more about citizen-led culture and methods of co-creation.

The workshop will take place on Zoom. The day will run from 10am to 1pm, and then 2pm to 5pm (2 x 3 hours with comfort breaks and one hour lunch break). Participants are invited to attend with a few simple creative materials.

In this workshop you will:

Explore the origins and development of citizen-led cultural practice

Get creative and take part in accessible creative activities

Develop an understanding of leadership and self-determination in community groups

Learn how to embed participation and engagement at all levels of a project

Address the challenges of citizen-led and creative practice online during Covid-19

Find out about co-creation and simple tools that can help you develop a practice of shared decision making

Deepen your understanding of the dynamics of power and cultural difference within groups

Learn from other creative and cultural practitioners and share your own experience

Once registered, attendees will be emailed information and Zoom login details directly by 64 Million Artists one week before the event.

We are offering some discounted tickets for this course at £72. These tickets are aimed at participants whose ticket cost will not be covered by an organisation and are aimed at those in a situation where the full cost of a ticket serves as a barrier to their participation.

About the Workshop Leader:

Chris Rolls, is 64 Million Artists' Senior Project Manager. Chris has worked on large-scale community and place-based projects across the UK, including with Cities and Boroughs of Culture and also runs 64MA's mental health projects. He is an experienced facilitator and workshop leader. Chris has a background as a professional and community theatre and opera director and is also a trainee psychotherapist in private practice in East London.

Chris will be joined by Olive Ceesay, 64 Million Artists' Administrator, who will be co-facilitating.
