Citizens' Assemblies in a Climate Emergency
Event Information
Description
Winchester Green Party is delighted to invite you to a talk by Professor Will Jennings exploring how citizens’ assemblies work and what they can achieve. Professor Jennings is a Professor of Political Science and Public Policy at the University of Southampton, led the Citizens’ Assembly South project in Southampton in 2016 and was also a member of a research team that ran a Citizens’ Assembly on Brexit in 2017 (www.citizensassembly.co.uk)
Following the declaration of Climate Emergency, establishing a Citizens’ Assembly needs to be a priority for Winchester City Council, in order to engage citizens in developing solutions, bringing local voices to the forefront of how we meet the 2030 carbon neutral target.
The talk will be followed by questions and discussions about how to work together to make this happen in Winchester.
