Come and join City Eye and the John Hansard Gallery for Film School fun, make friends AND learn how to make short films. Film School is a great opportunity for children of all ages and ability to have fun and get involved with filmmaking. During the October half term young filmmakers can come and be part of the cast and crew making their own films inspired by films showing at the Gallery, such as those by Imogen Stidworthy, as part of British Art Show 8 which comes to Southampton this autumn. We think Imogen Stidworthy's work will inspire an exciting exploration of the film noir, thriller and spy film genres.
Level 2 (age guide 12-16 yrs)
Date Wednesday 26th October 2016
Venue John Hansard Gallery
Southampton is the final stop on the British Art Show 8 tour, with the exhibition showing at locations across the city in Autumn 2016. As always Film School participants get to use professional filmmaking equipment to develop camera and editing skills whilst having loads of fun! Working in groups according to age, ability and friendships they will learn all aspects of the filmmaking process - from story idea to editing. Organised by Hayward Touring at Southbank Centre, London, and taking place every five years, it introduces a broad public to a new generation of artists. After opening in Leeds Art Gallery in October 2015, British Art Show 8 will tour to multiple venues across Edinburgh, Norwich and Southampton over the course of 15 months, presented in Southampton at John Hansard Gallery and Southampton City Art Gallery.
