Event description

Innovation Through Technology: Teaching, learning and assessment

Overview - Aims

The power of technology to enhance learning has been increasingly accepted by the majority of learning providers over the last 15 years. However, for many providers, it is only now that that the use of technology, both inside and outside the classroom, is becoming a critical feature of modern study programmes and curricula. Many providers struggle to understand the needs and expectations of a new generatio of 'digital natives' who are accessing their programmes. This session will help participants to critically evaluate the technology enhanced learning (TEL) landscape, the expectations of 21st century learners and the key drivers for learning providers.

This workshop delivered over one day will help you to:

  • Understand what is meant by key terms, such as technology enhanced learning (TEL), the ‘Net Gen’ and flipped learning

  • Self-assess your own TEL proficiency to inform personal action planning and further professional development

  • Experiment with using different active learning technologies

  • Evaluate the impact of the FELTAG report for providers and practitioners

  • Critically evaluate how providers are adapting the curriculum the harness blended and flipped learning opportunities

  • Discuss how existing City and Guilds products can help providers to personalise learning, challenge learners and make smart efficiencies

This event will create opportunities for you to work collaboratively, self-assess their current knowledge and practice and consider improvements where necessary.
