Level 2 Part 1 Unit 221
25th, 26th, 27th & 28th October 10-4 2016
Shepherds Bookbinders are pleased to launch the new City & Guilds Bookbinding Courses, London in partnership with St Bride Foundation. Unit 221 is Level 2 part 1 of our City & Guilds Level 2 Bookbinding course.
This course is aimed at students who have experience in binding, and have undertaken the beginners' course or equivalent.
Students will bind two books in leather using different techniques to create each binding. Paring and the care of knives will be a major part of this course.
Students are welcome to undertake the course without enrolling for a City & Guilds qualification. Those who wish to achieve a City & Guilds Award will need to complete a further 15 hours of personal binding and reproduce what is covered on the course at home. This work will need to be accompanied with supporting evidence of design in the form of sketches and notes. The resulting work will then be marked and graded. If students want to achieve a City & Guilds Award participants will need to register with Shepherds before the marking process; this carries a £31 administration charge.
Following the completion of the first 3 Unit, students will have the opportunity to undertake awards in a further unit, along with a design unit, which leads to a City & Guilds Certificate.
