Level 2 part 2 Unit 220
22nd, 23rd, 24th & 25th November 10-4 2016
Shepherds Bookbinders are pleased to launch the new City & Guilds Bookbinding Courses, London in partnership with St Bride Foundation. Unit 220 is the second stage of our City & Guilds Level 2 Bookbinding course.
Students will learn a range of alternative sewing techniques without using adhesives. These will include coptic binding and Japanese stab binding among others. This is a very creative unit to the City & Guild award and students will be encouraged to experiment with different materials and styles.
Students are welcome to undertake the course without wishing to achieve a City & Guilds qualification. Those who do want to achieve a City & Guilds Award will have to complete a further 15 hours of personal binding and reproduce what is covered on the course. This work will need to be accompanied with supporting evidence of design in the form of sketches and notes. This will then be marked and a grade will be issued. If a student does intend to put their work forward for the City & Guilds Award they will need to register with Shepherds before the marking process, this carries a £32 administration charge.
Once this aspect of the Award is completed students will be able to apply for an Award through the City & Guilds scheme. Following the 4 Units, students will have the opportunity to undertake a further design unit to achieve a City & Guilds Certificate.
