Major cities across England are about to be given new economic powers and new leadership through democratically-elected Metro Mayors as the latest phase of devolution takes place.
But are cities the engines of growth, or the engines of intra-city inequality? What are the big issues that new Mayors promising a new era of inclusive prosperity will face? And do they have the powers they need to boost local living standards?
At an event in Westminster to launch a major new investigation into living standards across our major cities, former Northern Powerhouse Minister Jim O’Neill will make a keynote speech about how Cities can drive inclusive growth. A panel of experts will then respond to issues raised by Lord O’Neill and the Resolution Foundation’s new analysis, before taking part in a Q&A.
Torsten Bell, Director of the Resolution Foundation
Lord Jim O’Neill, former Chairman of Goldman Sachs and Commercial Secretary to the Treasury
