Event description

Description

Join in the City Nature Challenge and evening bat, amphibian and moth safari at Evington House. Bat specialists will help you find bats using detectors and show you how to identify different bat species from their call sounds and flight patterns. They will explain what types of habitats bats need to feed and roost at different times of year.

Alternatively, why not join in with a search of our ponds and nature reserve for frogs, toads and newts. Experts will show you how to search for spawn or eggs laid by amphibians or spot them using a range of techniques and learn how they adapt in each stage of their life-cycle.

Afterwards, find out about moths from our specialist who will set up light traps to temporarilly capture a range of moths found in the local park. They will explain the range of moths that differ in size, shape and colour which have evolved to be masters of camouflage.

PLEASE CHOOSE ONE EVENT ONLY TO BOOK ONTO - The Bat and Amphibian activities will run alongside each other before joining up to view the moths. You can book single tickets and up to a maximum of 4 places per person

On arrival, please report to the Oak Room, Evington House where hot drinks and squash will be available prior to the event starting.
