City of Sanctuary: Maternity in Manchester - Seeking Sanctuary
This conference has been organised by City of Sanctuary Maternity Stream for Greater Manchester and aims to achieve a greater insight into the needs and experiences of asylum seeker and refugee women who are accessing maternity services.
We also wish to engender a greater understanding of the asylum process and the issues that affect pregnant and postnatal women, including PTSD, FGM, HIV, sexual exploitation, trafficking and housing
This event is open to anyone, but will be particularly appropriate for: midwives, health visitors, General Practitioners (GP), obstetricians, commissioners, mental health professionals, sexual health professionals, social workers, student midwives, GP trainees, children centre workers, refugee organisation and volunteers working with this group of women
We strongly advise all attendees to use public transport when attending our conference. The University of Salford has excellent bus and train routes, as well as cycle parks for cyclists.
Car parking is available but this is also shared by the University's students and the car parks are usually extremely busy. There is a fee for Car Parking and spaces are not guaranteed.
