CEMVO Scotland is delighted to announce that it is working in partnership with the Scottish Government Public Appointments Team and the Office of the Commissioner for Ethical Standards in Public Life in Scotland (CESPLS) to run 2 events targeting ethnic minority (EM) communities. The Scottish Government and CESPLS are committed to working towards increasing the representation of EM communities on regulated public boards.
The overall aim of the partnership events will be to help increase the number and quality of EM applicants to regulated public boards, with particular focus on intersectionality and new applicants – i.e. EM women, young people, disabled, LGBT and people of different faiths.
The events will be an opportunity for EM communities to:
- Learn more about regulated (paid) public appointments & what is involved in being on a Public Board
- Gain an improved understanding of recruitment and selection processes
- Develop an understanding of the skills based competencies approach used in the recruitment process
- Learn about what support is available from CEMVO for potential EM applicants.
It is further planned that participants of the 2 events will have the opportunity to attend a further, more focused event in early 2017 where the Scottish Government and CESPLS will work with CEMVO to run a practical seminar focusing on evidencing skills based competencies.
