At our February Members Meeting, the new Chief Inspector of Prisons Charlie Taylor will be discussing his priorities and goals for the next five years. He will be followed by a panel of experts, who will discuss mental health within the criminal justice system. The panel members are:
- Graham Durcan, Associate Director of Research and Evaluation at the Centre for Mental Health, who has been conducting a review on the future of prison mental health care.
- Soruche Saajedi, Prisoner Engagement Officer, Prison Reform Trust. PRT recently released a report on the impact of COVID-19 and restricted regimes on the mental health of people in prison.
- Khatuna Tsintsadze, Co-director at the Zahid Mubarek Trust. ZMT is working with The Traveller Movement and POPS on the 'A Record of our Own' project, which aims to understand the impact of the pandemic on Black, Asian and minority ethnic prison residents, prison leavers and their families.
- Paul Kassman, Founder of Changing the Game and CJA Awards Runner Up 2020. Changing the Game is a group therapy programme, delivered in prisons, to improve outcomes for Black and minority ethnic men who have been involved with gangs and serious violence.
