cJAM: Law is an exciting showcase event which enables our talented law students to meet face-to-face with senior people from the profession, to share ideas, make connections and pitch for opportunities.

This is a full-day event and we would be delighted if you would consider joining us - it presents a great opportunity for people in the profession to meet the talent of the future.

The event includes:

• Networking breakfast
• Guest speakers
• Industry Q&A panel
• Networking lunch
• Speed pitching
• Awarding of placements

As an industry guest, you will play an integral role in the event. For the two-hour speed pitching session, where you will get to meet 1:1 with up to twelve students, we ask that you come with the offer of at least one work placement ideally lasting one week. Alternatively, a one-day shadowing opportunity will also be fantastic. At the event, you get to judge the student pitches and award your placement(s) to the student(s) who impresses you the most.

At last year's cJAM events our students secured 320 placements with a range of employers including Forbes Solicitors, Napthens LLP, Watson Ramsbottom, F-lex Legal, TLT LLP, Marsden Rawsthorn and BLM. To get a flavour of the cJAM event format look at last year's video at this link.

It is so important that our students understand the pace of change within law; how new technology is re-shaping the profession and the best career opportunities open to them. Through being part of this event, you will help enormously in achieving this.

FAQs

Potted career history and photo
Once registered we will need a short biography and photo. This is for the cJAM event programme. The photo should be a mid-shot of yourself (head and shoulders) and the biography 100 words max, written in third person. Deadline date: Friday 27 September.

Placements
We ask that you come with the offer of at least one placement. Assuming this will be unpaid, a week is the ideal length but if this isn’t possible, a one-day shadowing opportunity would also be great.

Which students will be pitching for placements at this cJAM event?
Year 3 and 4 undergraduate and postgraduate law students.

Free parking
You can request a parking space when registering. If this applies, use the University’s Victoria car park (sat nav: Victoria Street, PR1 7AY). The Media Factory is a two minute walk from the car park.

Public transport

Free event
There is no cost to attend this event and breakfast, lunch and refreshments throughout the day will be provided.

Late arrival or early departure
This is a full-day event and we would appreciate your presence from 9.30am until 4.30pm. If this isn’t possible, please let us know in the specific requirements section when registering.
