Event description

Description

Lewes branch Labour Party presents critically acclaimed jazz singer Claire Martin on Friday 8th March, International Women's Day, in the intimate surroundings of the All Saints Arts Centre.

Claire has established herself as one of the most significant performers on the international and UK jazz scene, winning many awards and gaining the accolade of being "our finest jazz singer" The Times.

In October 2018 Claire was awarded a Gold Badge Award by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. (BASCA). As judged by the songwriting and composing community, the Gold Badge Awards celebrate exceptional talent in the UK music industry; individuals who inspire or support creativity and the professional lives of BASCA members. In November, Claire won her eighth British Jazz Award, as she was announced as the winner in the 'Best Vocalist' category.

Claire will also be known to many as the presenter of BBC Radio 3's hugely popular Jazz Line-Up show.

For this extra-special performance, Claire will be joined by renowned guitarist Jim Mullen, Mike Gorman on keyboards and Ed Richardson on drums, to play a unique musical tribute to the legendary Jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery.
