Event description

Description

Claire is originally from Sheffield and began playing clarinet at the age of 8. With the encouragement of her first teacher, Ruby Littlewood, and the support of her parents, she quickly became involved with Sheffield Music Service ensembles. She was a member of the local orchestras, bands and even a clarinet choir. In her teens, Claire became a member of the City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra (CSYO) and was privileged to play at Edinburgh International Festival, as well as travelling abroad to the South of France and Barcelona to perform with them. Claire has been a member of Blackpool Symphony Orchestra since November 2013, and became principal clarinet in March 2017. In that time, she has had the pleasure of performing in some amazing concerts, including being part of the woodwind section features: Gounod’s Petite Symphonie for Wind and Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for Wind Instruments. She was also delighted to be asked to perform Weber’s 1st Clarinet Concerto with them. Claire will be accompanied by Pianist Ed Rugman

part of the regular series of light classics concerts hosted by St Laurence's Church, Chorley.

Tea and cake included.
