Description

Join Spanish- born mezzo-soprano Clara Mouriz and pianist Iain Burnside for an evening of Spanish music inspired by our current exhibition El Greco to Goya - Spanish Masterpieces from The Bowes Museum. Clara is equally at home in recital, in opera and on the orchestral stage. A former BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist, she has been the recipient of the Wigmore Hall / Independent Opera Fellowship, and is an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. This year Clara continues to work throughout Europe including performances in Zurich, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Paris and Madrid. Her recordings include works by Montsalvatge and Turina with the BBC Philharmonic and she sings the role of Elena in a forthcoming release of Carnicer’s Elena e Malvina with the Spanish National Orchestra.

Iain is a Sony Award-winning broadcaster and has collaborated with artists including Dame Margaret Price, Galina Gorchakova, Roderick Williams and Bryn Terfel. His recordings straddle an eclectic repertoire ranging from Beethoven to Judith Weir to English Song. His recording of the complete Rachmaninov songs has just been released by Delphian Records.

We look forward to an exceptional evening of music making here at the Wallace Collection with a performance including works by Granados and De Falla.

Before the concert, at 6pm, Director of the Wallace Collection Xavier Bray will deliver a lecture introducing El Greco to Goya - Spanish Masterpieces from The Bowes Museum. Entry to this very special talk can be combined with your concert ticket for just £5.
