Event description
Anna will be discussing the musical practices and class identities of young people in the south of England

About this Event

Why is classical music predominantly played by white middle-class people in the UK? This talk, drawing on a recently published book, will discuss findings from an ethnographic study of young people playing in classical music ensembles in the south of England, exploring the links between social groups and their music.

Dr Anna Bull is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth. She is a co-founder of the 1752 lobby group, which addresses the issue of staff-student sexual harassment in higher education.
