In celebration of VisitScotland's Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design 2016, come and see the Central Library's special collections revealing the development of classical architecture.
Architecture copy books of classical architecture became common during the 18th century: these books feature drawings and prints. Volumes include copy books of Vitruvius Pollio, Andrea Palladio and Giovanni Battista Piranesi. This collection is especially important to the city of Edinburgh, relating to its classical and Georgian style of architecture in the New Town and elsewhere in the city, in particular in the work of William Adam, and his sons Robert and James Adam.
Participants can drop in from 2.00pm and will have the opportunity to view these special collections in close proximity. Our architecture collections are held in the Art & Design Library and can be viewed by appointment on other occasions. Email Art & Design Library.
