Clay Portraiture: Run by Finn Bush
Sat, 29 Apr 2017, 11:00 – Sun, 30 Apr 2017, 16:00 BST
Clay in its amazing versatility offers the boundless possibilities of the human imagination in all dimensions. Whilst taught to create a portrait following the everyday features and contours of the human face your wish might be to arrive somewhere more expressive and unexpected with your sculpture. Both the classical and creative are catered for using self drying clay.
About Finn Bush:
Coming from a modernist training in painting and sculpture I have dedicated my time to teaching and working with form as a surface. My desire is to see the maelstrom of senses from beneath unwound into a simple vision of planes and faces. I look at the direct comic aspect of gargoyles, misery cords and the sculpture of Qiongzhu Temple in SW China and try to reflect this as an atmosphere in my work. I have lived and worked in and around Dorset for about seventeen years and taught from the very young up to art school level. My interest in sculpting the face increased whilst learning from portrait sculptor David Roper-Curzon in a 6 week portrait project in 1999.
