Clean Language was devised by the late psychotherapist David Grove as a way to keep his assumptions out of his interactions with his clients, as far as that is possible, so he could work directly with their perceptions. In practice, it means asking clean, or 'neutral', questions of the words a person is using to describe their experience. For example, if someone says... "I'd like to be more confident"

... a Clean Facilitator might say, "And when you'd like to be more confident... what kind of 'more' is that?" The question directs the person's attention back to what they have just said so they can consider what they mean by 'more' rather than both of them taking for granted that they know what 'more' means in this context.

Our teleseminars are designed to give you a small taste of Clean Language during a friendly telephone call. We start by asking everyone present what they want to get out of the call and then we do our best to make sure that you get what you want. In this way, we demonstrate our clean approach at work: the call is about you and what you want, rather than about us and what we want to deliver. It also means each call is different and so you can join us two or three times if you want to, learning something different each time. We want to answer your questions and give you an opportunity to get to know us. We are generally asked to demonstrate how Clean Language works, so it's likely that one or two participants on your call will get a 'bonus' of a free short coaching session.

Each call is different and the content will be dependent on who takes part. Typical outcomes are:

  • Learn the most useful Clean Language questions and be able to use them straight away
  • Experience being on the receiving end of the questions and develop your own metaphor
