Event description

Description

Clerkenwell is one of the City of London's oldest suburbs.

Understand how it developed over the second millennium firstly through penitence and then industrialisation. See the remants of its pious and pestilent medieval past and where radicals preached and were imprisoned. Hear about the characters that populated the area - John Wilkes, Jack Shepherd, Vladimer Illych Lenin, William Shakesphere and Fagin. And discover the alleys and back streets around one the busiest parts of London.

This one and a half hour walk starts at Farringdon UndergrounD station and finishes near Barbican station.

This is a Clerkenwell and Islington Guide Rota walk.
