Climate Action in Scotland - Exploring the 2025 Action ScorecardsClimate Emergency UK, along with the help of over 256 volunteers, created the Council Climate Action Scorecards to measure climate action led by councils and hold them to account. SCCAN is co-hosting a launch event for Scotland, to explore what the Scorecards results say about climate action led by the 32 Scottish local authorities on Thursday 14th August, 6:30-7:30pm.Context- The Scottish Government is committed to reaching net-zero by 2045, 5 years ahead of the UK targets.- Local authorities control 30% of the path to net zero. However, Scottish councils are struggling to deliver systemic change at the pace and scale needed.- While the lack of resources remains the biggest barrier, political will and community support at the local level are essential to unlock further climate action.What to expectDuring this online event, you will learn about:- How Climate Emergency UK created the Council Climate Action Scorecards and what the results show in Scotland.- Where progress was made in the last 2 years to mitigate climate change and protect biodiversity.- A demonstration of the website and how to compare and identify best practice examples.- How you can engage and support your council to deliver further climate action.The Zoom link for the session will be sent in an email to you when you register for the event.
