As part of our Where Climate Meets Race programme, we will be holding bi-monthly climate cafes. This is an opportunity to make connections, share ideas, and understand how you can find your place within the wider climate movement.
This session will build on the core topics and themes from our first workshop on Climate Justice is Racial Justice, with the wider aims of:
- Nurturing a broader and deeper interest in climate action
- Providing a safe and structured space to address shared climate concerns and ambitions
- Building the personal and professional relationships we need to address the climate crisis as a collective
Agenda:
In our previous workshop on Climate Justice is Racial Justice, we explored the ways in which the climate crisis has long come at the expense, sacrifice, and harm of racialised and marginalised communities everywhere. We will be taking this discussion forward on what it means to decolonise climate and reimagine an equitable and sustainable future. We hope to see you there.
🌟 This session will be lead by Voice4Change England's Environmental Strategy Officer, Jennifer Wat.
Jennifer has been working with V4CE to develop an environmental strategy that sees our communities better supported, resourced, and empowered to bring about climate solutions of their own. Her work is centred around community engagement, policy, and advocacy, where she looks to understand and address how the climate crisis affects Black and racialised communities deeply and disproportionately. Her hope is to secure consensus, commitment, and a networked approach to achieving a just transition within and beyond the Sector, and further amplify the message that climate justice cannot be delivered without racial justice and equity.
